Cedar Integrated Nursery
April Newsletter
Welcome to the April newsletter. Remember this can be viewed on the school website: //cedarips.schnet.org.
April theme : Ourselves
Our theme for this month and next month is Ourselves and we will be looking at our bodies - inside and out, looking at our similarities and differences, looking at how we can keep ourselves healthy and keep ourselves safe. We ask that Parents would send in a named baby photograph of their child to be displayed in the Nursery so that we can discuss how we grow and get older. We will be using the same rhyme sheet for the next two months.
Our Colour: brown
Our colour this month will be brown. We would ask Parents to encourage their children to find something brown to place on the table, where it will stay until the end of the month. We would appreciate it if Parents could put their child's name on to this item.
Happy Birthday To You

Bedtime Bear And Winnie The Pooh
Due to circumstances beyond our control we were unable to start sending home Bedtime Bear And Winnie The Pooh, so we hope to begin this month. Therefore here is the information again.
Your child may be bringing a nursery bear home at some stage during the next few weeks. We hope that this activity will be particularly helpful in promoting children's learning in the following areas:
· Personal, social and emotional development.
· Communication, language and literacy.
We have 2 bears - Bedtime Bear and Winnie the Pooh and each will be sent home with an individual child on a daily basis to be taken home and returned the next day. We would be obliged if everyone could try to return their bear on time so no child is disappointed.
Please encourage your child to take care of him and to include him in activities at home such as mealtimes, visits to friends and trips out. Please also talk with your child about the bear's experiences at your house and the contents of his bag.
You will see that there is a diary in each bear's bag. You may like to read some of the entries with your child. Please make an entry about the bear's visit to your house, encouraging your child to talk about this and perhaps draw a picture or colour in the one provided. This will help your child to understand the purposes of reading and writing, and will also help staff when discussing the experience with your child when the bear is returned.
Please remember to return bear and all his belongings (including bag, diary, face cloth, toothbrush, brush/comb and pencils/crayons) on time.
Thank you for your co-operation. We hope you and your child enjoy bear's visit.
Music Session
We will be having a music session with Elaine from Mini's Music on Wednesday 21st April 2010. This session will be on the theme of Ourselves.
Dental Health
Next month all of the children will be cleaning their teeth on a daily basis in nursery. This is possible because of our involvement in the 3,2,1 Dental Health Initiative and each child will receive their own toothbrush for this purpose. We require Parental consent for each child and we enclose a form at the end of this newsletter for you to complete and return. Many thanks.
Art Activity
We are going to decorate some Wellington boots with sticky pictures to plant seeds in, so if you have any old boots you do not need anymore please send them into Nursery as soon as possible.
